A wrong-way crash in East Hills shut down the Long Island Expressway for several hours and resulted in multiple injuries.
It happened just before 7 a.m. between exits 36 and 38.
That section was closed off to traffic in both directions for nearly two hours.
"Debris everywhere. All kinds of debris, car parts. It was pretty bad," said an eyewitness.
The highway has seen reopened.
Details surrounding how the driver entered the expressway travelling the wrong way were not immediately available. There was no word yet on how many people were injured.
