People came to enjoy tasty food and nice weather in Lindenhurst on Sunday for the Town of Babylon's Italian Food Festival.
Families and friends enjoyed Italian classics like pizza, sausage and peppers and other delicacies. It took place outside of Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst.
“Great way to promote Italian culture. We have a presentation inside of the town board room about Italian American history in the Town of Babylon," said Babylon Councilman Anthony Manetta.
Much of the food at the festival was homemade like rice balls that originated from Sicily.
Family-owned restaurants set up their booths and served up their very best.
“We’re having a phenomenal time. The Town of Babylon is a great place to be, very community minded and we’re very happy that they invite us here," said Carl Belgiorno, co-owner of Belgiorno Family Mobile Wood Fired Pizza.
People attending the event say they're happy to eat good food with family and celebrate their heritage.
The town also held a pasta and sauce food drive to help local families in need.
